The Italian firm Bianchi was founded in 1885 by Edoardo Bianchi and began producing products which established themselves very quickly in the international bicycle market. This was in no small part due to the founder's pioneering inventions and innovations in bicycle technology, for example in 1895 Bianchi was responsible for constructing the first female bicycle for Queen Margherita of Italy. On top of this in 1982 they introduced their BMX bike into the European market for the first time and thus triggered the BMX bike craze!

But the success story goes further because in 1984 the Bianchi bike firm in the US introduced the very first mountain bike thus revolutionising the international bicycle market.
