Cassettes & Sprockets 9 Speed
9 speed cassettes are standard on most modern bikes. The extensive gear transmission ratio spectrum of a 9 fold chain derailleur is not only proven with off road mountain bikes. Thanks to its light mountain gears, trekking bikes can also cope with long ascents without any problems. The wear and tear of a 9 speed cassette can be minimised with regular replacement of the chain, enabling sprocket cassettes to normally manage between 6000 and 8000 kilometres before they need to be replaced. It is highly recommended that the wear and tear on the chain be checked with a so called chain tester. Once the tolerance threshold has been reached then the chain should be replaced to prevent unnecessary abrasion of the sprockets.
