MTB Derailleurs
Hardly any other MTB component is so in demand than the derailleur. The back derailleur on a mountain bike should perform cleanly whether with a full load, on steep terrain or in an out-of-the-saddle position, although these conditions should be avoided as far as is possible. Furthermore the design of the derailleur should be stabile and robust. The occurring impact and leverage forces on off road terrain are immense. Due to the very exposed position of a derailleur it must be able to cope with this, at least to a certain extent. Even more important than sturdiness, is resistence to wear and tear: High quality derailleurs work under adverse weather conditions without noticeably losing any of their operating precision. Regular maintenance and chain replacement also help to improve the service life of a derailleur.
