Handlebar Grips & Tape
Grip handles are put over the handlebar ends in order to ensure optimum grip on the handlebars. The same applies to handlebar tape, which is predominantly used on racing handlebars. The advantages of good grip are as plain as the hand in front of you: Firstly, slip-resistance is considerably improved; secondly, good grip provides better damping. For this reason, grip handles and handlebar tape are made predominantly from soft materials, such as rubber, cork or synthetic materials. These materials absorb minor vibrations and go some way towards improving riding comfort. In order to 'get a hold' on the problem of rubber grip handles' tendency to slip in the wet, clamp grips are also increasingly being made available. These slide onto the handlebars and are attached using screws. Those who have problems with their hands falling asleep or becoming numb can also add ergonomic grips handles. Special grips handles have been developed in association with specialists in sports medicine. In particular, these enable the optimum wrist position and noticeably relieve sensitive nerves in the hands.
