BMX / Dirt Tyres
BMX and dirt tyres need to be somewhat robust for use on dirt tracks, so that they can offer optimal grip on loose, sandy ground. Of course the rolling resistence needs to be manageable, otherwise acceleration suffers. In contrast, one needs a flat tread tyre in skate parks and on ramps to be able to achieve the best possible grip on the slippery surfaces. Naturally the best possible rolling resistence is also desired, so a good compromise between grip and speed needs to be found. The rubber compound is very crucial and can mean the difference between good and bad BMX / dirt tyres. To be able to take the strain off hard landings and drops, the carcass must also guarantee optimum protection.
