Why choose a road bike?

A road bike, also known as a racing bike, is a bike designed for road cycling and competitions, according to the specifications given by UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) that delegate the most important bike attributes. For example, for a bike to be considered as a road bike, the maximum length should be 185 centimetres and the maximum width 50 centimetres. Besides these features decided by UCI, the most important characteristics of these road race bikes, which make these cycles so diffused, are the lightness and the stiffness. These two attributes make this bike the best for road competitions and challenges. Optimally used for fitness activity the very slender rims and tyres of a racing bike, as well as the so-called racing handlebars, allow this cycle to be easily driven. Racing bikes are nearly always equipped with rim brakes and derailleur’s, though has neither a carrier nor mudguards.

Road bikes just for riders

Road bikes and official competition bikes offer efficiency to everyone whether you’re a pro biker or not. The lightness and the velocity of this type of bike allow everyone to easily ride it even in everyday activities. A common practice is in fact to change the racing bike’s pedals with normal ones to combine the qualities of a road bike with the comfort of a city bike. Think how difficult is to carry a heavy bike up the stairs or round the London underground: using this kind of bicycle makes this problem disappear.
