Triathlon Bikes of Giant
These are the specialists in the race against the clock: Triathlon or time trial bikes. The frame geometry and seating position is optimised to reduce wind resistence. And different than with all-round racing bikes, that have to be able to climb up mountain passes, it is not the (minimal) weight of the add-on parts that is the priority, but rather the aerodynamics. In particular this applies to the running wheels, which thanks to a reduced number of spokes and special profile rims and spokes, can cut through the air like a knife at speed. It is apparent what kind of competition the triathlon bikes are meant for just by looking at the handlebar add-ons: For the short distances covered in public triathlons (1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running) short aerodynamic stubs are simply added to regular racing handlebars. And for long distances up to Ironman (3.5km, 180km, 42km) high quality, but at the same time comfortable and extremely streamlined aerodynamic add-ons and bullhorn handlebars are used.
