Cannondale was founded in 1971 by Joe Montgomery in Connecticut. The company began by producing the first ever trailers for bikes (a rolling backpack), and quickly progressed to all sorts of cycling attire and equipment. In 1984 their first mountain bike came onto the market and in 1991 Cannondale bikes' first full suspension design made its début.
