BMX / Dirt
Hard frame, soft core. Dirt or BMX helmets must offer more than conventional bike helmets. People who show off with the bike know that not every trick is perfect. That’s why a BMX/dirt helmet should not be destroyed after the first crash. A hard plastic frame on the exterior and a thick Styrofoam layer inside protect the skull from injury. Lower flanks offer more protection upon lateral impact. The neck area of a BMX helmet also has a deeper cut as a result of which the back of the head is better protected. A reliable chin strap system is needed to ensure that the helmet remains in the proper position. The more air holes the helmet has, the less sweat-inducing biking will be. However, with so much all-round protection, ventilation logically falls by the wayside. No matter what excuse you come up with: never cycle without a helmet!
