Leg Protectors
A protector is a piece of protective equipment worn on the body designed to protect from injury. It is usually made of a robust frame which is adapted to the part of the body requiring protection and padding which has a cushioning effect. Protective equipment for head and feet are not considered protectors because these acutely exposed body parts require special precautions in order to be protected. Without protective equipment the cyclist would expose himself to unnecessary dangers on terrain. Thanks to protectors, minor falls are generally inconsequential because these protectors protect against light bruising and open cuts. However, protective equipment cannot always prevent fractures, torn ligaments and other serious injuries. Consequently, they shouldn’t be used as an excuse to take further risks. Full protective equipment consists of a full face helmet, upper body armour plate, reinforced gloves, wrist, elbow and knee/shin protectors.Participation in races usually requires the wearing of full protective equipment.
