When a rear rack simply isn't enough, a front 'lowrider' rack is a great option, especially for long-distance bike touring. They enable you to carry more gear over the front wheel, lower to the centre of gravity, therefore having less of an effect on handling. Before buying one, making sure it's compatible with your fork, your wheel size and brakes. Many bikes are unable to accept such racks. Some lowriders need special mounts on the fork; others can be installed without. Carry even more gear on your bike!
