Gels - quick energy on the go
Energy in a tube? When gels first appeared at cycling events in the early 90s, people laughed. Today, it's hard to imagine any endurance event without them. They're available from many different brands and in many different flavours but all have a few things in common: 1) like energy bars, they're small portions of highly concentrated carbohydrate energy designed to get into the bloodstream quickly and provide immediate replenishment. 2) Unlike energy bars, gels can be consumed easily and quickly without chewing. 3) You should try to consume them alongside food/water.
