I'm very happy with the BB7.
After the 2nd hydraulic brake (Avid Elixir 3) was leaking at the front after 12000 km, I wanted to try a mechanical brake. The BB7 was relatively easy to install. The setting went pretty well after the principle became clear to me. With the BB7 only one brake pad moves (in contrast to the hydraulic Elixir 3) and presses the brake disc against the other brake pad. Both brake pads on the BB7 can be adjusted using adjusting screws - and easily readjusted if they are worn.
I've driven about 3,000 km now. The BB7 up front works very well on a 180mm disc, comparable to the hydraulic Elixir 3. The BB7 requires far less maintenance.
I liked the BB7 so much that I also retrofitted one for the rear wheel (switching from V-Break). With the 160mm disc and the longer brake cable, the BB7 didn't work so well here at the beginning. After about 1,000 km the braking effect has improved and I can lock the rear wheel on asphalt if I put it on it. You can tell the brake grips better when it gets hot. After about 1,600 km I am now also satisfied with the BB7 at the rear.

The old rear brake on my GreenMachine was deceased (different brand). Nowadays they are delivered with this brake. So that seemed to me a logical choice as a replacement. I have not been able to do an endurance test yet, but installing and adjusting is super. It is ideal that the brake can be adjusted on both sides (and not on only one side, which has a lot of brakes). This allows you to optimally set the brake to 'sharp' so you have a faster reaction with braking. It brakes firmly and is easy to dose.
