Mountain bikes for younger riders

Many manufacturers offer mountain bikes for younger, smaller riders, usually based around the 26" wheel size, although some newer models have 27.5"-diameter wheels. The majority of these bikes are aluminium hardtails with a suspension fork - comfortable off-road but not too heavy or sluggish for using around town. It's also possible to add mudguards and lighting for everyday use on most models. Just like their full-sized cousins, many of these bikes use disc brakes to effectively bring you to a stop in mucky weather.
