I blindly grabbed it, believing I couldn't go wrong with the higher-priced Castelli brand. I have a bib and jersey from this brand for the summer and am quite happy with it.
Unfortunately, this thermal underlayer is absolutely disappointing. The material reminds me of my "two for the price of one" Odlo undershirts for 38 euros (per pair).
The multiple seams on the skin are particularly uncomfortable. I now wear it under a jacket on cold days for semi-official occasions. Because under a tight-fitting winter jersey, the seams rub and scratch too much for me. If you consider that the RRP is 80 euros, then you get the extraordinarily good Assos variant with the blue stripe in the middle for "only" 20 euros more. There are worlds in between.
Yes, the Castelli Flanders is quite breathable and reasonably warm, but that's about it.
