Those are big words, but a lot of development work has gone into these cycling shorts to back up that claim. You might first notice what's missing: the seams and a multi-panel cut. Castelli has developed a new type of material that adapts to the needs of different body zones. The "Raw cut" leg cuffs and rubberised threads guarantee a perfectly non-slip fit on the legs. At the thighs, the fabric becomes lighter, while its four-way stretch provides just the right amount of muscle support. In the pelvic area, compression and support increase to keep seat pads and everything else in place. The material is thicker here to avoid any embarrassing transparency. With this downright magical material, you don't have to sew separate panels of fabric together. This makes for more comfort and a better fit - plus an elegantly sophisticated look. New straps have also been developed. They are cut from a single piece of fabric that has enough elasticity to hold the shorts in place without the need for an extra hem that might cut into the shoulder area. And you perforate the material for even better cooling. The top model, the Progetto X² Air Seamless, is used as the seat pad. It consists of two separate components: the soft, elastic Skin Care Layer on the skin, whose sole purpose is to prevent any friction, and underneath it the Cushioning Layer as a padding layer with two foam densities as well as breathable, perforated gel inserts under the ischial tuberosities and perineal area.
