Chrome Hondo Backpack all black

design flaws
Translated from the German To the original
I was looking for a well-designed, roomy backpack for everyday use: I use my bike to cover all of my everyday trips, such as work, errands, leisure time. And that should come with: Everyday stuff like stationery, notebook, mobile phone, sometimes a jumper or jacket, sunglasses, keys, water bottle, etc., the notebook, on the other hand, only occasionally. (I have a bicycle trailer for 'big' purchases. I have various bike backpacks for sporty trips.) The conclusion after two weeks of "everyday life" with the Chrome Hondo is unfortunately negative. + The backpack is spacious and offers enough space for everyday needs. + High-quality materials and good workmanship give the impression of robustness and very long durability. + Cool design: I like the "reduced" look. - In the rather spacious main compartment, things can get quite confusing due to the lack of an organization system, such as compartments or pockets with zips. - Unfortunately, the two bottle holders on the sides are inflexibly constructed. This makes it more difficult to store bottles in it and, secondly, takes up space on the inside of the bag. - The straps, on the other hand, are attached to the backpack far too flexibly. The consequence of this: After a short (carrying) time, the straps "move outwards" and press uncomfortably on the shoulder joint - even if the backpack is only lightly loaded. The only remedy is to always close the chest straps. (Note: I'm tall and have fairly broad shoulders. So I'm not "too small" for the backpack. I've never come across such a construction weakness in any other backpack.) - I can't (yet) say anything about the weather resistance. The outer material makes a good impression in this regard. In any case, the zippers, especially those of the main compartment, and the back plate do not seem to be sealed. This can also be found in the product reviews on the website of the manufacturer Chrome. - The backpack seems very stable and robust overall. But, and now comes the biggest weakness in the construction: Because the outer material is really completely inflexible - there are also no expansion folds - any pressure from the load moves INSIDE, i.e. towards the back plate. And unfortunately the backpack does not have a carrying system that stabilizes, dissipates the pressure or distributes it evenly on the back. The back part consists of a simple foam board, every additional pressure caused by loading the backpack ends up 1:1 on the back of the wearer. And that even while walking/standing - it gets really uncomfortable when cycling! Okay, in the Bikester or manufacturer product description there are actually references to "EVA - foam back panel" and "without back protector". For the sake of completeness, a note such as "low wearing comfort" should also be included! The bottom line is that the Hondo looks more chic than practical.

Disappointing
Translated from the German To the original
After about 14 days of use, it's time for an evaluation. Unfortunately, she turns out to be disappointed. + Spacious + Makes an indestructible impression - Drink holders on both sides outside are not made with flexible fabric or mesh, i.e. take up space towards the interior of the bag when loaded. - too few compartments/inner pockets = too little possibility to organize. In view of the generous main compartment, it then becomes confusing. - small but fine details such as key fobs with carabiners that other manufacturers install: unfortunately none here. - the straps are too "flexibly" attached to the backpack at the top. They tend to slip outwards towards the shoulders when under load. You can only counteract this by closing the chest strap. - It has not yet been possible to test rain resistance - the zipper does not appear to be sealed. - the biggest weakness: the backpack does not have a carrying frame or a reinforced back part. Rather, when the backpack is loaded, the back panel presses very uncomfortably against the back of the wearer. The load cannot move forward because the front area is made of very rigid, inflexible material. When cycling, the pressure on your back can get really uncomfortable! Just to clarify: I wasn't looking for a bike backpack, but a backpack for everyday and versatile use. Conclusion: The backpack is nowhere near what Chrome promises. And it's definitely not a backpack for cyclists.
