MTB winter shoes against cold and wet
Anyone who's been on a mountain bike in winter knows you have to do something to avoid getting cold feet. While arms, legs and torso are usually warmed by the activity itself, feet get cold quickly - and stay that way. But it's not just the temperature that's an issue; rain, mud and snow are also a challenge. The wind, humidity and relative lack of movement in the foot quickly make for a frosty combination. Clipless pedal shoes are made more difficult by the fact that the metal shoe plates can form a cold bridge. A combination of suitable socks, insoles and neoprene overshoes can help. Often, the best winter solution for mountain bikers are special winter shoes, which are fully insulated, usually cut higher, windproof and partially waterproof.
