BlackChili Compound
BlackChili Compound is a tread compound that is always based on the latest findings in polymer and raw material research. Depending on a tire's area of application, Continental adapts the compound formulation specifically for the respective application. For BlackChili, Continental refines special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create high-performance tread compounds. Soot particles are then added to these compounds, which in turn are optimized in terms of shape and surface properties. The complex compound technology is so sensitive that tires with BlackChili Compound are produced exclusively in Germany. Tires with BlackChili Compound achieve an excellent performance level. Compared to activated silica tires, BlackChili tires have a 26 percent lower rolling resistance, a 30 percent higher static friction value (grip) and a 5 percent higher mileage.

PolyX Breaker
The breaker is an insert under the tread of the tire to protect it from cuts or stitches. Polyester has been successfully used in car tires for years and has proven itself many times over. The extremely resistant polyester fiber is woven tightly cross-woven. This results in a very high fabric density, which makes the breaker not only resistant to foreign bodies, but also particularly resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is in no way negatively influenced by the PolyX Breaker.
