Right out of the box they sound like creaky old and worn pedals.
When you turn the pedal by hand, it is an uneven feeling and the pedal can feel very smooth and stiff at the same time. The sound sounds rusty and watery.
I then opened up the pedal and see that there are those loose metal balls like in cheap hubs, 2 mm balls that are very small and fiddly to deal with. No serious ball bearings here either. Adding your own lubricant didn't help either. Putting the crap together at home is not easy, either too loose or too hard. And these are not services deliberately created in relation to the price, and therefore not environmentally friendly. Don't buy these, don't try them, choose other pedals. Find others for the same price that are water resistant, have true sealed ball bearings or plain bearings etc. they exist.
The design of the pedal itself as a whole is nice and has good quality and it's a shame that Cube made this kind of crap, when it's so easy to do it right from the start. My car-themed bike with pedals for SEK 150 is smooth as butter after 3 years.
Don't listen to other people's comments, they don't even know what is good or bad about pedals. Or the cube has too high a tolerance. Many margins of error must apply to these pedals.
