Brothers Friedrich and Wilhelm Nevoigt founded their successful pen nib and knitting machine factory in Chemnitz in 1885. As a sideline, they also started to manufacture bicycles, with the first Diamant bikes rolling off the production line 10 years later in 1895. The following years saw the brothers constantly striving to improve their bicycles, including developing a bicycle chain that was unique at the time, but quickly went on to become the modern worldwide standard. Many other important new developments followed over decades of successful bike production, including coaster brakes, safety valves and even cardan drive. Diamant Fahrradwerke GmbH was founded in 1992 for the continued development of innovative bicycles, with its new headquarters in Hartmannsdorf. Since 2002, Diamant has been part of the TREK Bicycle Corporation and continues to offer modern and stylish city, touring and e-bikes (pedelecs and s-pedelecs).
