Fun Is Serious Business
GT stands for Gary Turner, the founder of the brand, who originally repaired trumpets until his son started regularly crashing his bike. After one particularly bad incident, Turner completely reconstructed the bike - learning in the process that the bicycle frames of that time were of low quality. So, he started to construct better versions himself. He soon became firm friends with bike shop owner Richard Long, whom Turner met on a nearby bike course. Both joined forces to develop new ideas and higher-quality products for mountain bikes - founding GT Bicycles in 1979.
The brand soon made a name for itself in the sport of MTB; producing innovative hardtails and fullys with and without pedal support. Their models impress professional and recreational riders alike for their performance on rough terrain and throgh the wildest downhill passages.
