The advantages of carbon rims are well known: They are light, rigid and can be built to be virtually indestructible. With this new trail wheel, however, Mavic's focus was on riding qualities. There is also the characteristic "too stiff"... but the XA Elite was developed to be perfectly balanced - and this includes the right amount of vertical flexibility to glide smoothly over the trails and to optimally support the performance of the tyres. This begins with the layup of the carbon fibers, for which Mavic has only found the perfect formula after several stages of development, in the eyes of its long-standing test drivers at any rate. The rims have wide, asymmetrical rim profiles to get the maximum out of the current trail tyres. With straight spokes, Mavic achieves the ideal compromise between lateral rigidity and vertical compliance. The HR hub is based on Mavic's Instant Drive 360 freewheel, which is designed for durability and fast adhesion.
