DHF and DHR Maxxis Minion
Both tyres DHF and DHR are Maxxis Minion. DHF refers to Downhill Front or Freeride, and DHR is for Downhill Rear or Race. Individuals have used these tires in both the front and back of their bikes, irrespective of the naming tradition. So, what's the distinction?
The side knobs on both tires are L-shaped. The style of the central knobs is where they vary. The DHF's center knobs are nearer to each other and to the side knobs, which means they have excellent traction in arid and semi-dry situations. The disadvantage is that the dense center knobs work poorly when it comes to cleaning muck.
The DHR center knobs feature a more paddle-like form, making the tyre better at very steep technical hills as well as better breaking grip in steep terrain. It's also a little lighter than the DHF, rolling faster, and helps clear mud easier than the DHF since the middle knobs are more spaced out.
