With its 35 mm inner width and flared rim flanks this aluminium wheel offers you the perfect base for your bike.
Due to the special rim profile with the completely edge-free outer contour, this rim is very light and extremely resistant to external forces. The exposed rim flanks are more resistant to dents than conventional straight rim flanks. They give the tyre a rounder shape and thus more cornering grip. Combined with lightweight Plus tyres you get the feel and lightness of a normal All Mountain but with the grip, safety and comfort of a PLUS bike. In combination with the new NEWMEN Straightpull hubs and the 28 Sapim Laser spokes, the result is a super light and comfortable wheel set, ready for race.
One of the weak points on rims - whether made of aluminium or carbon - are the nipple holes in the rim. Looking at the point contact surface of the nipple on the rim, it is easy to understand that these holes are a weak point. All forces transmitted via the spoke and the nipple (maximum value approx. 300 kg) pull on this small contact surface. You can easily imagine what will happen sooner or later: The rim gets cracks in exactly these places. Looking at the different solutions of the different rim and wheel manufacturers, one can quickly see that there are many different approaches to solve this problem. Newmen did not let this "problem" rest, because all existing solutions could not completely convince Newmen. Last but not least, the MG washer prevents the nipple from "eating" and ensures even friction between nipple and washer. The MG-Washer can also be used for non-NEWMEN rims. The prerequisite is a straight rim base in the area of the nipple hole.
Toothed Pulley Freewheel vs. Pawl
Freewheel All teeth are ALWAYS used in the toothed pulley freewheel. With pawl freewheels, on the other hand, it can happen that in the worst case only one pawl is used. Tip: Turn the freewheel of a pawl hub very slowly backwards, until you hear one pawl after the other engage ... if this happens during a hard start, then this is the K.O. for the freewheel. The pulleys developed by NEWMEN are made of high-strength tool steel...Made in Germany.
