Road forks: upgrade or replace your old fork
Road bike forks, cyclocross forks and gravel bike forks are usually rigid. The differences may be relatively small at first glance but the right fork can make a big difference to the ride quality. High-end road forks are usually made from carbon - they're significantly lighter than steel forks and offer much more comfort than aluminium forks. When choosing the right fork, it's essential to find the right steerer tube (1", 1 1/8" or tapered) for the frame. In addition, the installation height of the fork should correspond to the original fork height. Road bike forks differ significantly from CX or gravel bike forks in this respect. Last but not least, the fork also determines the braking system that can be used, the maximum tyre clearance and the hub standard (quick release or thru axle).
