Other seat posts – for pivot and i-beam
In this category, you'll find seatposts that differ from the conventional design. Models with pivot construction rely on a special connection between saddle and seatpost. As a rule, they can only be combined with a matching saddle, which also has part of the saddle clamp. This type of seat post is particularly popular with BMX and dirt riders, as it allows the saddle to be dramatically angled. I-beam supports and saddles do not rely on the usual two-clamp brace when connecting saddle and post, but on a thick, gridded rail in the middle. Because of their great stability, they're mainly used for downhill and freeride cycling.
