MTB Suspension Forks
Technologically advanced front suspension is for mountain bikers with real off-road ambitions. For cross-country and trail biking, relatively light suspension forks between 100 and 140mm travel are the norm. All-mountain and enduro fans generally prefer stiffer and slightly heavier forks with about 140-170mm travel. Downhill riders look for travel of up to 200 mm and triple-clamp stability. Air has become the go-to technology for suspension as it allows for precise adjustment to rider weight and riding style via pressure calibration. High-quality suspension forks also allow accurate adjustment of the damping to influence the compression and rebound behaviour, ideally separately from each other. When buying a suspension fork, you should pay attention to the shaft diameter, the wheel size, the axle standard and the installation width to match the existing components.
