Profile Design DRV/A 105 Drop Bar

The DRiVe metric by Profile Design pinpoints the precise position in the drops where riders instinctively place their hands. The metric is incorporated into a new series of progressively sized handlebars designed around a cyclist's most powerful hand positions.

What is your DRiVe?
Gone are the days of simply measuring a drop bar by the standard reach, drop and width. The DRiVe metric pinpoints the precise position in the drops where riders instinctively place their hands. The metric is incorporated into a new series of progressively sized handlebars designed around a cyclist's most powerful hand positions.

The DRiVe Metric
The DRiVe (Drop Reach Variant) position is measured via a 73° line beginning at the bar bore. The DRiVe metric pinpoints the line intersection with the drop.

DRiVe Reclaims Comfort, Power & Control
Modern drop bar designs are deeply tied to tradition. They are designed based on outdated road bike sizing rendering many of cycling intended hand positions unattainable when riding modern frame geometry. The ride positions that are the most powerful and allow for the most control have now shifted into virtually unattainable positions. DRiVe reclaims many of the ideal positions most critical to comfort, power, and control.

Fit Made Simple
To predict the DRiVe position of any given rider, Profile Design looked at an anthropological study focusing on the correlation among handbreadth, shoulder width, and height. By measuring your handbreadth Profile can easily identify a DRiVe that will be compatible with your body type.

Progressive Ergonomics
The tops and hoods complement the powerhouse DRiVe position and the Reach and DRiVe are progressively sized as the bar increases in width. This progressive sizing ensures the most powerful positions remain right where they are needed.

TOP racing handlebars for mounting additional brake levers with 31.8 mm clamps for Cross and Gravel!
Translated from the German To the original
When I was looking for a drop handlebar to mount additional brake handles with a 31.8 mm clamp on my gravel bike, I (finally) found what I was looking for here, as the additional brake handles can be securely attached at a distance of up to 120 mm from each other. In addition, all markings for stem and brake lever assembly are integrated. Discreet appearance without large logos or lettering. Drop ends with a 4-degree flare slightly outwards very pleasant (the 12-degree flare that is currently popular for gravel cores is far too much for me personally)! The only (small) drop of bitterness is the weight, which is 297 g (handlebar width 400 mm) or 313 g (handlebar width 420 mm). A lighter 7075-T6 aluminum alloy instead of the relatively heavy 6061-T6 aluminum alloy would be desirable in order to achieve a "reasonable" handlebar weight of approx. 270-280 g with a handlebar width of 420 mm. I ride this handlebar with the Ergon BT OrthoCell Pad Set (2.5 mm) and the Ergon BT Gravel handlebar tape (3.5 mm), which enable noticeably better damping in connection with a pleasantly large and grippy overall upper link diameter when graveling. Very satisfied despite the weight deficit: Best racing/gravel handlebars for my purposes!
