My original chainring of 34 teeth was due for replacement. Since I could use a bit bigger I bought the same chainring but with 38 teeth. Only to combine with a small blade of 28 teeth was there. However, I kept the 24 teeth blade and that is still a good combination that works fine. Adjust the front derailleur so that the chain on the small blade does not touch the derailleur. Work fine with a Chimano SLX.
