CamelBak - We’ve got Your Bak

In 1988, Michael Eidson developed a hydration-bladder prototype to fit in a jersey pocket. It consisted of an infusion bag and a drinking tube, and was designed for his participation in a long cycling race in the summer heat. Thus the CamelBak brand was born and nowadays it's hard to imagine endurance sports without hydration bladders and backpacks.

Camelbak: water bottles, tumblers, hydration packs and more

The history of Camelbak

Camelbak was founded in the late 80s by Michael Eidson. He was running a race in the scorching desert and needed a way to stay hydrated while on the move, so came up with an ingenious invention that used a medical IV bag and a tube to create a makeshift hydration pack. Camelback hydration packs were soon being used in the US military, and Camelbak started making water bottles too. The company operates from its headquarters in California, with Camelbak products being shipped all over the world.

Camelbak hydration packs

Camelbak hydration packs are ideal for cyclists, hikers, runners, mountaineers, and a wide range of other sports and activities. Camelbak hydration packs usually come in two styles; a belt and a rucksack. Available in both plain colours, bright colours, and camo patterns, they have padded straps to keep you comfortable all day long. Camelbak rucksacks come in a variety of sizes, from seven litres of cargo space upwards, and can be adjusted to suit different waist lengths and torso lengths. Many Camelbak hydration packs have room for up to three litres of water, as well as handy added extras such as helmet hooks and a tool organiser. The smaller waist belts can hold around one and half litres of water, with a magnetic drinking tube, on/off switch to control the flow of water, an ergonomic handle and some storage space for extra items. You can also find Camelbak hydration packs in the form of lightweight vests, made with breathable mesh and space for two bottles in easy reach.

Camelbak bottles and accessories

Keep hydrated on-the-go or at home with Camelbak bottles and accessories. Camelbak bottles are made for both kids and adults and they come in a range of capacities, from 400ml up to 750ml. Some of the most popular Camelbak bottles are made from insulated plastic to keep your drink cold even when temperatures rise, and all of them are easy to take apart and clean. They are also odourless and have a taste-neutrality feature, so your water will never have a chemical taste. Camelbak bottles are designed to be spill and leak-proof, and some models have a mouthpiece that self-closes as well as a locking function. When it comes to accessories, Camelbak provide useful reservoir cleaning and drying kits to keep your equipment in the best condition, as well as spare valves, caps, and hoses.
