WTB

Wilderness Trail Bikes or WTB, is a private company from California. Founded back in 1982, its speciality lies in creating parts for mountain bikes. Interestingly, the founders claim boredom was the motivation behind creating WTB. Additionally, they wanted items that didn't exist, so they decided to make them themselves. However, with an eye for perfection, the company has been pushed to ever greater heights in pursuit of offering top-quality bike products.

 WTB Logo

Originally only offering products in the local area, today the company supplies mountain bike products to the entire world. These days, their products include a selection of tyres, bike saddles, rims and even grips. Here at Bikester, you can check out our range of their products and even access our tyre size guide for additional help.

Off-road riding

One of the main products coming out of WTB is tyres. These tyres are available in a whole range of different options including gravel and cyclocross tyres. Both of these types give you excellent traction on some of the worst landscapes.

With gravel tyres, WTB offers a lot of choices. Looking for speed? Then take a look at the Nano 40c as this has a rounded profile alongside a reduced volume to give lower pressures. This helps it to deliver a smooth ride without too much drag on gravel surfaces.

The cyclocross option is a balance between wide, bumpy mountain tyres and narrow, slick road tyres. What this means is that you get great speed when rolling coupled with some traction. The Cross Boss is the ideal option here as the tyre has a large volume, great speed and a strong grip no matter the surface. It has a middle tread too and can even be used tubeless.

Alternatively, it's possible to grab a pair of tubeless tyres. These can be used with or without tubes. By taking the tubeless option, you give yourself a better chance at preventing punctures. The massive Breakout tyre from WTB is the perfect example. Despite having a larger than normal circumference, this tyre also rides fast. Added to this are some larger than normal side knobs that help when it comes to accurate cornering. Better still, these are perfect on all-terrain whether it's wet or dry, firm or clay.

Urban travel

It's not all about the adventure though, despite the roots of this company. WTB tyres are also available for commuter cyclists. The ThickSlick Clincher type tyres all offer a strong, durable tyre that can last for ages in the urban world.

Sitting comfortably

WTB saddles are some of the best out there. It's all very well to have great tyres and frames, but the seat is where you will be perched for hours at a time. WTB offers up various all-mountain long-distance saddles that are fully padded using a synthetic material that's easily cleaned. On top of that, they have a drop nose designed to prevent any catching as well as being comfortable for all-day sitting. The design is distinctive too — that whale tail is a signature of WTB. Fitting one to your bike is a no-brainer as there's an easy clamp system.
