No grip on a snow-covered road

The tire reliably and has good grip on an icy road / frozen compacted snow, but it does not cope at all in wet snow, i.e. a road cleared of snow, but covered with a layer of snow. Even at minimum pressure, the tires slide and "float" in wet snow. I have a comparison with a tire of another brand without studs but with an off-road tread and this one did better in snow/slush. I regret the purchase, but I probably can't return it, since the tires are used. The spikes should be larger, because they only protect against black ice/frozen dripstones, but crossing the snow on the side of the road/bike path, even cleared of snow, is a risky thing, you have to lead the bike on a longer distance to keep from tipping over.
