The secret of the Dura Ace BC-9000 brake cables is a polymer coating that looks like tubes wrapped around the cable under a microscope. This results in a smaller surface area that rubs against the inner casing cladding. Grease is also kept longer. The main advantages are significantly reduced shifting effort and the feeling of faster shifting operations.
