An elegant appearance and high-quality technologies distinguish Shimano's new SLX. The brand-new mid-range group offers countless of the performance features that already distinguish its "big sister", the Deore XT, and combines them with an excellent price-performance ratio, extreme robustness and comprehensive versatility. The result is mountain bike components that provide the right setup for almost every biker.
The 2x11 cranks with Dyna-Sys 11 system philosophy were especially designed to minimise shifting jumps during chainring changes. This results in fewer compensating circuits and the cadence remains more constant. The new SLX 2-speed cranks continue to have a difference of ten teeth and are available in 34-24, 36-26 and 38-28 ratios. 1-speed and 2-speed cranks can be used with the 11-40Z or 11-42Z SLX cassettes. In addition, the Hollowtech II cranks are also available as so-called B versions (outboard), which allow a further outer chain line for the BOOST standard with 148 mm rear hubs.
The Hollowtech II crankset was developed for optimum and efficient power transmission. Hollowtech technology enables extremely light, hollow crank arms manufactured using Shimano's exclusive forging technology for maximum rigidity. In addition, the Hollowtech II set has the right crank firmly connected to the axle, achieving an optimum balance between maximum rigidity and minimum weight.
The real advantage of the 11-speed drive is that the entire transmission ratio bandwidth is available without having to give up the usual rhythm. Dyna-Sys 11 ensures an optimal rhythm with "Rhythm Step" courses in the most frequently used range, both on the level and on the ascent. Drive efficiency is a key performance indicator for the powertrain. Several chainrings in the front mean consistently higher efficiency across the entire spectrum.
