Product Description

Zipp’s ultimate aero weapon is now tubeless ready. That means you get the many aero advantages of the 858 NSW Tubeless Disc-brake wheelset with the added benefit of increased cornering grip and compliance with reduced rolling resistance. The wheelset’s 19mm internal width is optimized for running wider tires at reduced air pressure. The 858 NSW’s undulating 77/82mm-deep rim shape, our proprietary Sawtooth profile, takes design cues from nature for our highest performing wheel when it comes to aero efficiency and crosswind stability. These structures inspired Zipp advanced development engineers to, for the first time, systematically apply biomimicry to solve the complex challenge of designing a wheel, with the undulating Hyperfoil nodes, that reduces both aerodynamic drag and side force. When it comes time to scrub off speed or stop, disc brakes will give you the confidence and stopping power you need. Simply put, the 858 NSW Tubeless Disc brake is ideal for those focused on triathlon, time trials, or aggressive road riding.

ABLC Sawtooth
zipp´s Sawtooth dimple design consists of 12 nodes that are specifically clocked to start aerodynamic shearing at a rate of 50hz at a rider speed of 20mph. Sawtooth accomplishes this by inducing small sheet vortices that shed at a low magnitude, but at ahigher natural frequency, thus decreasing the laminar bubble effect on the aerodynamically shielded side of the rim´s profile to further reduce high yaw drag and improve crosswind stability.

Cogniton Hubs
The new Cognition Straightpull hubs, made of high-strength Z310.9 aluminium are extremely lightweight and offer a new freewheel body technology. The Swiss stainless steel bearings are the most precise in the entire industry. Specially developed hub bodies also distribute the load of the spokes more evenly over a larger surface to prevent torsion in the bearing area. The result is lower resistance and greater durability. The 17 mm hub axles are extremely stiff. The hub itself is milled using modern EDM technology so that 50 percent harder materials can be machined 20 times more precisely. The Cogniton hub series with Straightpull spokes offer an even higher lateral stiffness.

ImPress
The imprint graphics not only provide valuable weight savings, but also enable a unique and durable application of the four letters most feared by the competition in cycling racing: Z-I-P-P.
