The only solution for me was to attach the clamp and its tube to the bike first, then put the tube and its clamp on the support afterwards. Really not practical.
Then when dismantling and folding the foot, the plastic part which holds the two feet gets stuck on the vertical tube and we can no longer close it. I had to use a mallet to get it loose.
