Youth and kids bikes

Welcome to the children’s bike page on! Children's bicycles do not differ wildly from other bicycles - except of course that everything is a bit smaller! However, here are some crucial things to consider when buying children's bicycles.

Children's bicycles must be clearly visible to other road users and a good and functioning lighting system is a must. Furthermore, brakes should be adjusted to be safe for a child. Children's bicycles should also be easy to maintain and sturdy enough to withstand plenty of use!

Youth and kids bikes

Our online children’s bike shop offers customers a wide range of cheap children's bicycles. Children’s bicycles are more than just small bikes; they have important features and functions especially for smaller cyclists.

They should have a light yet sturdy construction which can handle all kinds of stresses and strains. Bike components can come under a lot of stress – particularly luggage carriers – and kid’s bikes must be sympathetic to heavy use.

Children's bicycles should be easy to use and most importantly be safe!

The sprockets and the chain must be well protected and the brakes must be adjusted to suit the child in order to avoid accidents and injuries.

A children's bike must be very visible, even in the dark. Bright paint, reflectors and a solid lighting system are therefore a must. Age and gender-specific designs and details are important: kids place a lot of importance on this!

Determine the correct size of the child wheel

In children's bicycles the size is determined not by the size of the bike, but by the size of the child. Additionally, children's bicycles are not measured by frame height in centimeters, but by wheel diameter in inches. For the youngest, starting from 2 years, Bikester offers beginner 12 inch bikes with stabilising wheels, necessary protective devices such as edge protection and full chain protection as well as boxes for toys. For larger beginners there are similar bikes with a wheel diameter of 16 and 18 inches. The right size is important! Oversized bikes are not only uncomfortable, but also unsafe. Similarly too small bikes can be damaged by overloading.
