More and more women are discovering the joys of mountain biking and are looking to get out on a modern hardtail. The requirements for these bikes are essentially the same for women as they are for men. Many female riders easily get along with regular models, however, some find that the riding position is a bit stretched. Nowadays, more and more manufacturers are offering a growing range of well-known ladies' models that reflect a better geometry for many female riders. Features may include a shorter seat position and optimised ergonomics for example; ladies' saddle models, a narrower handlebar and slimmer handles. Many brands also slightly reduce the height of their women's bikes to provide additional safety for beginners.
