Two years after the presentation of the world's first electronic mountain bike shifting system, Shimano is now bringing this revolutionary technology to Deore XT level.

Shifting gears with extreme precision and speed in the upmarket mid-range segment is now literally possible at the push of a button and, if desired, with just one switch. When it suddenly gets steep on the trail, the Deore XT drive reacts even faster and more intuitively to any rider command, even if the hands are already aching from the firm grip on the handlebars, thanks to Di2 technology. A light press of a button is all it takes to change to a more efficient gear.

In combination with Synchro-Shift technology, which automatically shifts the front derailleur depending on the desired transmission ratio and also optimises chain skew, the optimum gear combination is always available, even when steep climbs, technically demanding descents and adrenaline-laden race passages alternate in rapid succession.

The SW-M8050 Firebolt switches were developed specifically for particularly simple operation and are designed in a kind of rotary handle design. Short operating distances with clearly defined single-click and multi-shift function ensure comfort, precision and minimal operating forces. The function assignment of the individual buttons of the Firebolt switch can be freely programmed, the switch itself can be adjusted many times in the mounting position, so that the fingers always lie ideally to the buttons. This makes shifting faster and more intuitive than ever before.

Thanks to the synchro shift function, a single switch is enough to control the rear derailleur and front derailleur. The shift layout, which specifies the times of the automatic gear changes on the front derailleur, can be freely programmed. Shimano's rhythm-step philosophy ensures that the minimum number of (automatic) compensators is required each time the chainring is changed, which helps to maintain the efficient cadence. No big gear steps, no excessive strain on muscles and joints, just pedal effortlessly and shift through the gear range.
