Four-piston system
The disc brake system with double-diameter caliper design and counter-rotating pistons has different sized pistons at the front and rear. The system incorporates a power transmission system in which the brake disc is pushed by the smaller piston at the entrance to the brake disc mount and also by the stronger, larger piston at the rear. This prevents the brake disc from vibrating and significantly reduces noise.

The four-piston caliper increases the contact area with the brake disc while its size remains compact. The position of the pads is precisely tuned to stabilise the pressure. Moreover, in combination with the SERVOWAVE brake lever, an incredible 50% more braking power is achieved than with the previous model. The advanced SAINT/ZEE disc braking system can be adapted to the rider's braking habits and produces a consistent, superbly controllable braking force.

ONE WAY BLEEDING
"ONE WAY BLEEDING" was developed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimised the brake fluid line path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from becoming trapped in the system. The one-way flow of the mineral oil, together with the funnel for filling, allows for clean, trouble-free bleeding.
