I'm driving the X.0 Gripshift on my carbon hardtail. The decision to order the bike with rotary handles instead of triggers was based on my short but good experience in 1995. At that time I - as absolute MTB newcomer - on my first bike Gripshift on it and coped very well. And since they like to fall back on the familiar, the choice fell in March 2007 when bike new purchase just again on rotary handles. And I did not regret it! The SRAM X.0 work perfectly and easily. The gears can be changed quickly and precisely. The rotary handles have also proven to be robust and insensitive to interference, there were no mechanical wear or defects at nearly 4,000 km! However, getting used to the relatively loud noises that accompany each switching process. At first I thought, I'm just breaking something ;-) but the clear, sharp crack just means: it was just (clean) switched! :-) What is not quite so optimal, is the durability of the original rubber grips; they wear out relatively quickly and become unsightly, because there are always small rubber "lint" hanging somewhere. But of course that does not detract from the function of the handles and I can recommend them for touring bikes in any case. On bikes that are tougher (Enduros, Freeriders, DHlers) I would prefer "normal" gearshifting to avoid unintentional twisting in jumps and very rough bumps / obstacles.
