The VOTEC VC has the potential to steal the show on the trail, combining the riding behaviour and equipment of true trail bikes with the dynamism of a race hardtail. Able to accommodate 29" and 27.5+ wheels, it offers the right mix of power and pleasure and can replace a whole fleet of bikes. All models are equipped with a 120mm-travel suspension fork for greater comfort on uneven trails. Depending on the model, the VC is also available with a remote dropper seatpost, tubeless-ready wheels with wide rims, and an 11 or 12-speed drivetrain.

Votec VC hardtail

German brand Votec offer a comprehensive selection of mountain bikes for a full variety of off-road applications. At home off road

The VC is more than just another hardtail. With its aggressive geometry, convincing climbing ability and assured down-hill performance, you can be forgiven for sometimes forgetting the suspension is only at the front. Lightweight and nimble, the bike handles technical trail, steep ascents and tricky downhills with utter conviction. And while a great hardtail is the perfect place to start for someone wanting to get into mountain biking, the VC range offers a bicycle for those on a wide range of different budgets, from the great-value VC Comp, to top-of-the-range pro-spec VC Plus.

A great basis for brilliance

All VC models are built around a lightweight 6061 T6 aluminium frame with modern features such as rear thru-axle for added strength, wider Boost 148mm rear axle width for increased wheel strength and stability, routing for a dropper seat post and fittings for post mount brake callipers. Other notable features are the flexible seat stays for added comfort, and tapered headtube and PF92 bottom bracket shell, designed to increase stiffness and durability.

27.5” or 29”

The freedom to run different wheel sizes is one of the best things about modern mountain bikes. The VC bikes are all compatible with both 29” and 27.5”+ wheelsets, with massive clearance at the chain and seat stays should you want to run up to a 2.8” tyre on the smaller 27.5” rim size. The frame is designed to accommodate a suspension fork with 120mm of travel with equal front tyre clearance. The Comp and Pro come with fast-rolling 29” wheels with 2.35” Schwalbe tyres as standard, with the Plus set-up from the factory with 2.8” Schwalbe tyres on 27.5”+ rims. All models have tubeless-ready wheelsets and tyres.

The difference is in the details

A versatile platform allows Votec to offer the VC in a range of different configurations. The most affordable model in the range, the VC Comp, has a 2x11 set up with a wide range of gears. The Pro is available in both 1x11 and 2x11, depending on preference, while the Plus comes with a cutting-edge 1x12 set up. Magura or SRAM hydraulic brakes on every model ensure effortless, precise and immediate braking in any weather conditions, no matter how muddy the trail is. All frames feature 120mm suspension forks for great cushioning over whatever obstacle may lay on the track.
