Balaclavas & storm hoods
There are days on the bike when a cap and high collar just won't cut it. When the world freezes over, balaclavas offer riders the cold and wind protection they need to stay in the saddle. Balaclavas, also known as 'storm hoods', provide maximum protection for the head and neck, and are usually windproof and breathable. The breathable bit is particularly important if it'll cover your mouth - otherwise, it'll collect too much moisture from your breath, and potentially freeze in driving winds. As a rule, bike helmets can usually be worn over balaclavas without any problems.
