Unfortunately, the wheel is NOT red at all! At least it doesn't have the red from the pictures. It's actually neon red/orange. This is very unfortunate because my child explicitly wanted a red bike and apart from W**M there are hardly any red children's bikes. I would like to deduct two stars because the description here is misleading. But it's a really good bike, so only one star deducted.
First impression:
A really high-quality bike for a very reasonable price. What child needs a W**M bike for €450 that has also performed very poorly in the ADAC tests.
This bike is also light, weighing only around 5.5 kg.
The frame looks very high on the photos, but in real life this is not a problem at all. My child is 100cm tall and has an inseam length of 43cm and easily stands over it. In the middle of the tube I measured a height of 40cm. Could be a problem with smaller strides though. That works for us. Mainly because our impeller was cut that way, getting used to getting on and off is not necessary.
The handlebar position can only be changed marginally, but this is sufficient to achieve slightly different sitting positions or to do justice to the length of the arms and upper body. A sitting position that is too upright makes pedaling, steering and driving in general more difficult anyway. Our impeller was also designed the same for the handlebars.
I think the chain guard looks very good, but whether it can be easily removed for maintenance remains to be seen. At best, cranking feels a bit more sluggish, but I don't know if that's because of the chain guard.
The wheel hubs and thus the wheels are a bit stiff, which is initially noticeable negatively. It remains to be seen how this affects the child's driving experience. I may have to readjust it, but it's not really a problem (I hope).
The brakes are also not very easy to operate, so I will definitely have to help with Bowden cable oil beforehand.
A main criteria for me (aside from the color) was the front AND rear rim brakes. Many children's bikes have built-in coaster brakes - what nonsense! No modern bike has such a brake because it's complicated and totally ineffective, but should we expect that from children? Children in particular need their legs to balance, a coaster brake prevents this completely. And since wheels also have rim brakes and most children are already used to them, it makes even less sense.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, I cannot share any long-term experiences, but I am glad to have found this bike. It makes a very high-quality impression for this price and apart from everything it is also a real eye-catcher. Just a nice bike.
